Webinar: Plain English & Copy-Editing as a Diversification Skill for Translators

  • Post category:Events
  • Reading time:2 mins read

Date: Monday 23 February 2026 | Time: 11:00 am (UK time) | Duration: 50 minutes + Q&A (1 hour CPD)

As translators, we spend our days clarifying meaning, untangling syntax and making text work for readers. These are exactly the skills that underpin good copy-editing, yet many of us have never thought about offering it as a service, or already offer it but haven’t taken the time to develop it properly.

In this webinar, Philippa Hammond will walk us through the different editorial roles – from developmental editing and copy-editing to proofreading and revision – and show where our existing skills as translators naturally fit in. She’ll also share practical tips on developing your editing expertise and finding new clients.

About Philippa: Philippa runs a small translation, copy-editing and rewriting business, working from French, Spanish and Portuguese into English. She’s been in the industry since 2004, specialising in international development, education, policy and governance, and was recently appointed to the Translatio Standing Committee, the editorial team behind FIT’s quarterly newsletter.
